WiMax becomes very popular in the UK

As the sales of the mobile WiMax equipment rose by 35 percent in the first quarter of 2007, it has been noted that the number of people in Britain using broadband internet connection with the support of wireless handsets has drastically increased.

But a recent study has noted that the market boom for WiMax has significantly declined. This will come to a 40% loss all over the world. Richard Webb, wireless broadband analyst for Infonetics Research mentioned that the fixed WiMax market could be withdrawn by the launch of mobile WiMax, but the fixed WiMax remains feasible where connectivity needs greater mobility requirements. He also mentioned that voice over internet protocol technology used in wireless handsets was helping to boost the popularity of LAN.

Apart from this, the firm also noticed a very significant increase in its revenue. They found out that the revenue for wireless LAN equipment rose by five per cent in the first quarter of 2007 to £393.7 million.
