June 25, 2007Welsh organisations profit from broadband connectionsThe Welsh Assembly may soon be able to go forward with their latest project to provide broadband internet connection for public sector organisations. The Welsh Government is on their plan to introduce broadband internet connection to their public that will in turn allow the various organisations to make good profit through the economies of scale. This was following the clearance from the European Commission. The new project from Welsh, will aim to proffer a controlled network with the possibility for improved data sharing and shared services. Minister for the economy and transport, Dr. Brian Gibbons mentioned that the procurement of this elevated bandwidth network service will give Wales's opportunities to lead the rest of the United Kingdom in 'joined up' government and superior service delivery. But Neelie Kroess, competition commissioner stated that the proposal would not require state aid and could serve the communications requirements of about 5,500 sites across the nation. It has been noted that the National Assembly for Wales plans to have augmented the availability of broadband services across the nation by 30 per cent by July. | ||
