VoIP for Home Use?

There is so much about VoIP these days that, a normal person also knows that VoIP call can be made through messengers like, Yahoo, MSN, AOL etc absolutely free of cost and to any destination on this planet as long as the source and destination computers are equipped with same client program, in other words, a Yahoo Messenger, MSN messenger or a AOL messenger etc.

Briefly people have started to learn its usability and are making full use of VoIP feature or a home soft phone for any long distance calling at no price at all. Majority of business have also started using these free features to make overseas contacts and many are running because of these services. Believe it or not but in coming years, the demand for VoIP would increase to such an extent that people would like to see this feature in there home landline as well. They would want there landline to work over internet directly so long distance call could be made easily without even have to go through the computer.

When there is so much craze about VoIP, there are still those who are unaware about these facilities offered to them for free. We are trying to focus more on clearing those having doubts on this kind of technology. So what do you need to make use of such technology? You need a broadband connection from your nearest and good Internet Service Provider. If not broadband, then it could be a DSL link or a satellite link which ever is available in high-speed. The more the speed, the better the VoIP quality will be. If you are going in for hardware based VoIP device known as Gateways, then for sure there will be requirement to connect that gateway to your broadband modem, which can be done by inter-connecting them with an Ethernet cable. A VoIP gateway is going to be connected to your phone line.

It is very easy to install VoIP depending upon the service provider and the kind of configuration steps it involves. Any newbee (not having much knowledge) can configure these setting for VoIP either on the computer or on the hardware gateway itself. Its fun configuring the installation and then its even more fun when you get to make your first VoIP call. You normally get all the feature a regular phone would carry like the Caller ID, call forwarding, Call waiting, repeat dial, phone book, 3 ways dialing as well. Remember you might just be paying for these feature which you just got for nothing at all.

Call as many friends, family member as you can because your phone expense is not going to be your concern any more. But another set of video phone and plug them through the VoIP gateway and your broadband connection and enjoy the thrill of a face-to-face video chat. Remember, the broadband modem and VoIP gateway are running on power supply and incase of a power outage, the device is going to be out of service.

Therefore, your decision of getting VoIP at home should be encouraged by your needs as this could be a one time expensive venture after all.
