Virgin Media’s new Regional Director for Northern Ireland

One of the UK’s leading ISPs and Broadband & TV operator – Virgin Media has recently announced that they have made appointment of Seamus McCorry as their new Regional Director for Northern Ireland region to manage their current Project Lightning network expansion. He is holding at present the position of the Country Manger for VM’s Northern Ireland business. He will continue doing his work and taking up new role also. He will have to work along with local authorities, the Northern Ireland Assembly and representatives of local business organizations.

The operator at present is covering 3.2 lakh plus premises in the area and completed 98% coverage in Belfast area. Earlier in 2017, they informed that they wanted to reach extra 50000 premises in Northern Ireland. But today’s announcement told that they have completed extra 1 lakh premises with £65m+ investment from 2015.

In recent years, the areas that have been already covered with the operator’s ultrafast broadband network include Bangor, Ballyclare, Comber, Craigavon, Derry, Eglinton, Newtownards, Portadown and Maghermason. The next area that will get benefited will be around 11,000 premises in Carrickfergus which will be go live later 2019 and still more towns to follow.

Seamus McCorry said that he feels delighted to take up this new role. He looks forward to build strong place for Virgin Media in Northern Ireland. They have wonderful plans in their network roll out with gigabit capable to connect more premises to give better connectivity for its customers.
