Virgin Media will be offering 100Mbps broadband as standard

The major cable broadband and TV operator, Virgin Media, will be soon offering 100Mbps as standard and also making available a 300Mbps service more widely available. The major communications provider while launching the new Virgin Fibre service, announced that their entry level package as faster than its rivals’ top speeds.

The TV provider also said the V6, their new TiVo box, will be included as standard in bundles like Mix, Fun and Full House. Those existing customers who will be getting speed upgrades, will be able to upgrade to the V6.

The V6, the next-generation set-top box from Virgin Media was launched in November last year. The box supports 4K Ultra-High Definition and has 1TB storage capacity. It allows users to record 6 shows simultaneously, while viewing a 7th show.

The Chief Digital Entertainment officer at Virgin Media, David Bouchier, said this is game-changing TV service as it raises the bar in home entertainment further.

Virgin’s new VIVID 100 plan is at £32.25 which includes line rental. The VIVID 200 will cost £37.25 and the slightly faster upload speed of the VIVID 200 Gamer plan puts it at £42.25. The VIVID 300 will come at £47.25. The packages will be available from 30th of March.

Tom Mockridge, Virgin’s CEO, said by beefing up their bundles they have left the competition behind. More are switching to join Virgin, because the best entertainment requires the best broadband and they are covering customers with bundles at incredible value, he pointed out.
