March 23, 2007Virgin Media & Sky war - A Lost customer focus! Many customers attracted by the packaged offer of getting a Broadband connection along with TV made by Virgin Media are now facing difficulties. BroadbandChoices spokesperson, Chris Eagle commented that they have been receiving tones of email from various customers which have felt that they have been on constant loss in the egoistic battle going on between James Murdoch and Richard Branson. Those customer who have signed-up for this packaged offer launched by Virgin media which was formerly known as the Telewest, are paying away only £20 per month. Virgin Media also argues the fellow rival Sky on charging double amount for their channels like the Sky One, Sky Sports News and the Sky News. Virgin Media feels that it's not worth paying that much and the two companies are now left to work around a solution to their ongoing differences, by the National Consumer Council, otherwise they are going to refer this matter to competition authorities. Does that mean anything to the Virgin Media Customers? Well! If you were the customer of Telewest or have just signed up with Virgin Media, you are not going to get any basic Sky channel service including the Sky One, two, three and Sky News. However, there will be no effect on the Sky Movies and Sky Sports channel subscription. Chris eagle, a spokesperson at BroadbandChoices comments again that still the customer are the ones losing out the focus as the solution to these two company's differences might take the Competition Authorities weeks or months to make their conclusions. Virgin Media still plans on implementing their own content directly rather depending upon Sky for its operations. But as for now, Virgin Media plans on taking Sky to court soon. Does that mean an existing Virgin Media should switch over to Sky? Remember, with Virgin Media, you are paying a nice packaged price for your telephone, broadband and television. Switching over to Sky would mean that you now have to pay separate prices for all three which could be expensive. For example, a Virgin Media television plus broadband connection would cost you at an average £20 a month and if you switch over to another service provider like Sky, your monthly expenses are going to jump to £30, where you would be paying around £15 for Sky TV's basic subscription package plus the left over £14.99 towards the Virgin Media broadband connection. If you really want to check out some particular programs or channels then your decision of splitting up and paying separately would make a lot better sense otherwise, it's recommended to stick around Virgin Media to get benefit of a broadband, telephone and television, all-in-one deal only for £26 per month. Do you know it takes £126 to activate a BT telephone line with £11 going away extra on line rentals, which you are going to save up with Virgin Media, as line rental is inclusive of packaged price? | ||
