Virgin Media launch Mobile Broadband service

The Cable ISP Provider, Virgin Media has diversified its range of broadband products by launching its mobile broadband package that will cater the needs of the users who are on the move. The new package which offers 3GB monthly data usage will cost £15 per month, when it is taken as a stand-alone deal, according to the report.

In addition, Virgin Media has also reduced the price of this mobile broadband offer for its XL broadband customers. This means, Virgin Media customers can get its fibre optic XL home broadband package with mobile broadband for just £29 per month for first 3 months, then £44 a month after that. Virgin Mobile broadband customers can also buy top-up usage at the rate of £15 per GB. The minimum contract length of Virgin mobile broadband is 18 months.

Neil Berkett, the CEO of Virgin Media said:

"The launch of our mobile broadband product means UK consumers can now get all of their broadband needs from the UK's leading broadband expert."

It should be noted that the cable broadband internet provider has already indicated its plans to launch its mobile broadband package in its Q2 financial results. Virgin Media is currently the only provider that offers quad play broadband bundles that combine broadband, home phone, digital TV and mobile phone services.

In the UK, the mobile broadband market is becoming fiercely competitive and the mobile broadband providers like Vodafone, T-Mobile and 3 Mobile come with new offers and incentives like free laptops and dongles to pull the customers. However, Virgin Media mobile phone service provider has 85% coverage across the UK and this can help the mobile ISP to deliver better service and coverage.
