Virgin Media apoligizes for the blackout of its services

It was believed that the air conditioners of Virgin’s servers which went out of power were behind the blackout of the Virgin Media broadband & TV  services in areas like Manchester, Wigan, Bury and Safford for the entire night on 1st of this month.

According to a report, a suspected arson attack was behind the shut down of power between 7.30 pm and 9 pm. However, the Virgin Servers could have experienced problems related with air conditioning although there no official confirmation from Virgin Media on this point. As per what we read from Virgin’s web site, the engineers fixed the problem and could restore the services only by 2 am next morning.

During the long night, Virgin Media customers could not access broadband and other services like digital TV channels of the ISP. However, Virgin has offered its apology for leaving its customers without services for a night.

Broadband is becoming an integral part of our lives and even a day without broadband service is quite horrible to think nowadays. Virgin Media customers must have suffered more as they were also deprived of on-demand video channels for a night. As there was no explanation from Virgin regarding what went wrong,  at least Virgin customers must be eager to hear it from their ISP.
