VAT Reset may increase Sky TV Prices

Sky HD TVThe prices for the Multiroom and High definition packages of Sky TV seem inclined to a slight rise, now that a rise has also occured in the VAT rate taking it back to the previous rate of 17.5% from 2010 January 1.

As a matter of fact, Sky had already confirmed in the past year that it would slash the VAT on its TV packages, as the government had then brought about a VAT cut.

Nonetheless, the leading provider of broadband and TV bundle packages in the United Kingdom has also announced that a rounded pricing would be applied by it, with a view to maintain the price rises uncomplicated across board. It could be for this reason that Sky has increased the price of its TV packages by 50 pence from January 1.

An exception here is the 1GBP price increase for the customers that also subscribe to Sky Movie and Sky Sports packages. In addition to this, the subscription prices for Multiroom and HD Pack have increased by 25 pence taking the package price back to GBP 10 per month.

It is also worth mentioning here that the TV broadband provider is also offering until February 5 2010, a 20Mbps 6 months free broadband package if the customers were subscribing to either a Sky+box or Sky HD on a twelve month contract.
