UK ranks 9th for fixed broadband subscription, OECD study
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) ranks UK ninth amongst 34 countries for the highest number of subscriptions of fixed line broadband during the period between December 2011 and June 2012. UK slipped from eighth position it was a year earlier.
Out of every 100, UK recorded 33.6 people joining fixed line broadband services. Switzerland leads rest of the countries with 41.6 subscribers out of 100. With regard to the number of broadband customers, UK is placed in top 5 and based on the number of wireless broadband subscriptions, UK is placed fourth. In the case of fibre optic connection, UK lags way behind the rest with just 2.77% of the subscribers taking up this service. Japan leads with 65% subscription.
