UK Organizations need to improve their security measures

The recent report form SafeNet says the number of mobile working force of UK organizations is on increase leading to more security threats for their sensitive business information. The underlying reason is many organizations are not able to provide adequate security measures to protect the network as all their mobile working force work outside the office firewall.

The survey conducted by SafeNet using a sample of 1,200 senior IT and security professionals also says majority of the employees still use passwords to protect the office networks instead of some enhanced network protection methods like two-factor authentication.

Presently, one-fourth of companies in UK allow half of their employees to work from their homes or outside their offices. This is eight percent increase from previous year.

Gary Clark, the vice president of SafeNet warned the companies who shun from taking adequate security for their corporate networks:
"An increase of eight per cent of the mobile workforce is significant as this translates to hundreds of thousands of staff working outside the office firewall. However, organisations trying to reap the benefits of mobile working without implementing adequate security technology and processes to protect the network are sitting on a security time bomb."

He also suggested that these organisations should adapt their security measures to include more flexible forms of working that would allow only authorised people to access the network while keeping unauthorised people out of the network.
