Two-thirds of gamers do not own consoles
According to a survey conducted by Plusnet, the UK internet provider to find out which mode of gaming has been favourite with majority of the UK broadband users, it clearly seems more than three-fourths of users who frequently go online for online games prefer to enjoy playing games using browser instead of going for games which the consoles provide.
The statistics says majority of the users have never felt the need of a console to play online games, but are quite content with playing online games enabled by the browser on their home computers. While the price of game consoles is falling steadily, but it still needs some more time to reach more users, the study reveals. Among the gamers who use console, nearly one-fourth of total gamers seem to prefer Xbox 360 game console.
Neil Armstrong of Plusnet says: “The console market is dominated by high-profile companies, backed by huge marketing budgets – so it’s easy to think that this is the way most of us like to game online,”
He further said most people consider PC with a high speed broadband connection as the first mode for playing online games at the entry level, before they consider going for game consoles. As the majority of gamers do not own consoles, but still are wild about online gaming, which is a sign for the users’ growing interest in PC games, his remarks suggested.
However, he suggested that the broadband service should be free of problems like latency when anyone seriously considers going online for playing some superb games available on net. It is no doubt, the gaming experience is tremendously enhanced by the broadband service which assures proper traffic prioritization and other aspects of good service, he concluded.
