Tough Economic Times May Trigger Internet Crimes

The company’s vice president of global security segment, Neil Fisher said that an increased risk of online crime is what the internet world is facing today that has simply evolved out of the global economic meltdown. He also takes pain to warn the internet users in the UK to ensure that their security is in the right place.

The chief threat foreseen by him are crimes like identity theft with a notion being spread that resembles firms slashing their budgets for consumer protection and due diligence. He also reveals that the circumstance in the UK too was much similar to that prevailing in Germany, Spain or the US where the predominant security concern for the users were nothing but financial security scores. And it was all about an escalating trend in the instances of online crimes along with broadband sales.

The most advanced version of the Unisys’ biannual security index was published recently that disclosed a grave situation where 72 percent of the total internet users in the UK thought they were at increased risk from cyber related crimes, resulting from the economic meltdown. Moreover, 88 percent of respondents also admitted that they feared that others would try to peep into their bank accounts, debit or credit cards.
