November 9, 2007Last day for signing up for WBC trialThose who wish to take up BT’s Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) which is going to be launched for a trial period in Birmingham, can sign up for the same until 9th November as the date of deadline was extended. Earlier, Entanet has disclosed the fact that the number of customers who subscribed so far has not come to the figure they expected thus postponing the last date for subscribing for a few more days. The Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) trial service will offer up to 24 Mbps speed using ADSL+2 technology. As per the report from Entanet, certain areas (exchanges) in Birmingham like Sheldon, Victoria, Stechford have notified BT’s announcement of deadline extension to the public enabling them to sign up for the trial service. Whether you are a customer of Entanet or other service provider but are living in Birmingham, you can subscribe to WBC trial service. More details can be found here. High speed broadband is getting feverish note these days as we have seen UK broadband suppliers like Virgin Media, Pipex and BT are offering high-speed trial services to their customers. Virgin Media’s up to 50 Mbps trial service is currently going on in selected areas in the UK and its XL size has been upgraded from 10 Mbps to 20 Mbps download speed. The major cable broadband supplier has also announced that it has future plans to further upgrade speed of its packages. Connection speed often depends upon the distance between the exchange and your home. If you are within two miles from the exchange, you are likely to get the maximum speed – not that they announce, but closer to it. With ADSL+2, speed is found to be degrading faster with the distance. So, these trials help the ISPs to get feed back from their customers thus enabling them to improve their services. | ||
