Tiscali's new plans for its IPTV service

Tiscali, the UK broadband provider which offers web based television services in selected areas in the UK like Surrey and London is to widen its IPTV networks to many places in the UK. The future plans of the ISP are aimed to cover the entire UK and to increase its customer base by more than half a million in a short time.

As per the plans of the ISP, the new service will include broadband, television service, and other channels like Sky to offer a variety in the channels instead of the usual freeview channels.

Tiscali, which has recently acquired Pipex, has plans to expand its LLU line network which will be used to offer its products to millions of households in the UK. Its IPTV service is certainly one of the most attractive products that pull more customers towards the Italian based ISP.

It should be noted that when BBC's iPlayer was launched in the last week of July, consequently, it evoked strong criticism from ISPs like Tiscali. Tiscali was the first ISP to express its concern over the strains that its servers may undergo if the iPlayer becomes popular in the UK and Tiscali suggested that the cost of BBC's service can be shared by the television giant.

While this issue is still unresolved, Tiscali has been chalking out plans to make its own IPTV well-placed among its competitors. It is yet to be seen, how Tiscali's plans are going to realize its goal of becoming the most popular IPTV service in the UK.
