Tiscali announces plans to improve its TV customer base

According to the report from Reuters, the Italian based ISP, Tiscali is all set to increase its TV customer base over five times by the end of next year. The CEO of Tiscali, Mary Turner has announced that the ISP has set a target of registering 200,000 TV customers by the end of 2008 indicating there will be atleast 50,000 registered Tiscali TV customers by the end of this year.

Currently, there are 36,000 Tiscali TV customers in the UK based on the recent financial report from Tiscali. The report also shows that the total number of Tiscali TV customers fell by over 20 percent from 45,000 to 36,000 after its acquisition of the old HomeChoice in November, 2006.

Obviously the poor results might have raised concerns over the future of Tiscali TV which has to face stiff competition with BT Vision, BBC’s iPlayer, Sky and Virgin TV.

Tiscali broadband provider has made another major acquisition of Pipex broadband which greatly contributed to the growth of its customer base and revenues this year. Tiscali, the fourth largest broadband provider in the UK, has shown improved performance as far as its broadband services are concerned. Tiscali has also been engaged in a major expansion of its LLU network which will enable the ISP’s future plans to be carried out within the time limit set by it.

Tiscali offers all kinds of broadband packages - stand-alone broadband services, broadband & phone packages and triple-play packages that include Tiscali TV service. Tiscali offers its triple play packages for a monthly price starting from £19.99. When you sign up to their triple play services, you will get a Freeview box and access to over 60 TV and radio channels including Sky One and ITV, 350 on-demand videos and thousands of movies via online.

You can also compare Tiscali TV with its main competitor BT Vision which can be optionally taken with BT Total broadband packages.
