Three UK plans to launch 5G broadband in 25 cities

One of the leading mobile operators in the UK – Three UK has recently announced that they will start their commercial roll out of £2 billion worth ultrafast 5G mobile networks in the month of August 2019 to reach in 25 cities and towns in the UK by 2019 end with promising double fast speed.

Till now, the operator has been doing only testing part of 5G services in certain areas of London and we can see 5G go live in London as a first city in August with other locations going to follow. The operator expects their services reach 80% in other 3 years. They operator owns less 3G/4G spectrum comparing to its rivals. But they want to compete in 5G services better so that they acquired ISP UK Broadband Ltd in 2017 and in recent it bought £164m to get 20MHz out of the 3.4GHz band in the auction. Now they have 144MHz in total to support their 5G launch.

CEO of Three UK – Dave Dyson said that as the need for increased data is a must for all businesses and consumers, the operator is having now the best network and already led best in 3G/4G. They have been working to offer best 5G experience and he is happy that they will be the best in offering real 5G.

The list of 25 5G Launch Cities for 2019 include London, Birmingham, Bolton, Bradford, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Reading, Rotherham, Sheffield, Slough, Sunderland and Wolverhampton.
