The OTA report shows continued growth in LLU network in UK

The OTA (Office of the Telecommunications Adjudicator) report for January 2008 was released recently. According to the report, there are over 3,931,000 LLU lines in UK, thus the LLU network is poised to cross 4 million mark shortly. The growing LLU network thanks to the initiatives led by BT Wholesale and BT Openreach during the last few years saw UK as making tremendous progress as far as unbundling of exchanges are concerned.

The report also reveals that BT Openreach which is responsible for deploying LLU lines to LLU operators while maintaining impartiality was found to have speeded up the bundling process in some important areas. It was found that home movers were largely affected by missing the deadlines especially in terms of the migration process.

The price of SLU lines is made available by Openreach although the operators need further clarification on certain details of the pricing. The SLU operators can provide better high speed broadband for end users. It is yet to be known, how the major change will take place in terms of higher speeds and reliable services
