TalkTalk pestered by non-connectivity problems

The Independent reports that TalkTalk broadband lines in the outer London 0208 dial code area have become ‘saturated’ due to the excessive traffic thus resulting in severe connectivity problems in this area.

TalkTalk, the third largest UK broadband provider in terms of connections depends on the broadband network of its parent company, the Carphone Warehouse in delivering its broadband and phone packages to the UK households. The Opal, the part of the Carphone Warehouse that deals with bandwidth related issues, is expected to resolve the problem this week by providing additional bandwidth to the TalkTalk broadband lines.

Meantime, the complaints team which examines this technical problem has already received over 2000 complaints regarding disconnection problems. It seems many TalkTalk customers living in this area have not received any information regarding what is going on even as the customer support of TalkTalk are not well-informed over the technicalities involved in this issue.

Charles Dunstone, the CEO of The Carphone Warehouse admitted in an email that there are significant problems affecting the 0208 areas of London:
"In the 0208 areas of London, all exchanges are affected by intermittent bandwidth problems."

Latest figures indicate The Carphone Warehouse has over 2.5 million broadband customers that include the customers of AOL and TalkTalk. TalkTalk is also one of the few ISPs who have their LLU network reaching more than half of the households in the UK. It is yet to be seen how TalkTalk will find solution for the bandwidth problems affecting the lines which have greater traffic.
