TalkTalk is to offer contract-free line option

TalkTalk announced that its customers who do not wish to sign up for active phone line with BT Retail will be provided with an option to get access to TalkTalk services via its own LLU network. TalkTalk, the major broadband provider who offers two international call plans with free broadband is one of ISPs in UK that offer its services using its fully unbundled lines.

Nowadays, most broadband customers find that broadband access via the ISP’s own network rather than via BT lines as more reliable and cheaper. For instance, if anyone goes for TalkTalk call plans (with free broadband) in a place where he/she is provided phone line by BT Retail, there is a need to pay phone rental of £10.5 to BT. In addition, if anyone happens to cancel the contract (which is 12 month) with BT before the expiry, he has to incur £70 cancellation charges too.

TalkTalk explained how its new line plan is better than BT Retail in terms of cost and other factors: “With regard our current Home Mover process, we do not force customers to enter a new 12 month contract with BT Retail, we offer this as an option. Furthermore we do not enforce any contractual cancellation fee that may apply if the customer decides to cancel their contract with us in these circumstances.”

TalkTalk is to launch this new plan next year which is surely to benefit many TalkTalk customers who are looking for alternate line with cheaper line rental. Tiscali ISP, one of its rivals already offers a few products with free line rental. These packages will not only reduce the monthly cost, but also will also help the home movers to find a new line option.
