TalkTalk includes line rental in renamed service Fast Broadband

As the new ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) rules take effect internet providers are changing to the new all inclusive pricing policy that requires the line rental cost to be added in the package price. The rules also affect a few changes more and enhancements. These changes will reflect in the providers’ websites and also many price-comparison sites too.

Vodafone was the first major provider to ‘banish’ the line rental tag. But TalkTalk simply says that their pricing now will include the line rental and this has coincided with a rebrand of its service. Simply Broadband will now be Fast Broadband and the new service will be marginally more expensive (£21.45 is now £22.95), but customers get a mobile SIM in the deal that provides 200 minuses of calls, unlimited texts and 500 MB of data per month. Using the mobile SIM is good value. Another marketing promotion is the price guarantee for the full term of 18 months of the contract period. But a customer will learn that the non-offer price currently applicable for 18 months is £25.50 for every month.

TalkTalk has also renamed their VDSL2 packages as Faster Fibre Broadband, which only means it’s faster than the VDSL2+ service, rather than being a faster fibre package and remains an entry level package (38 Mbps Download / 1.9 Mbps Upload speeds), The Faster Fibre service comes with a fee of £25 for set-up, applicable for new and upgrading users. Monthly cost for 18 months is at £27. Thereafter it is £22 per month.
