TalkTalk Considers Recession, Thinks Broader

A set of new plans were announced recently by the broadband provider TalkTalk that, it thinks would serve to rescue customers who are struggling in the global economic recession. The fresh plans are designed with a view to encourage the users who expect financial problems this year. The company would then hear the problems of the user to work out a suitable solution.

talk_talkThe chief executive officer of TalkTalk, Charles Dunstone said that if the customer is anticipating a considerable financial problem that would be hitting as the part of a job loss, if TalkTalk is called on it would firmly stand with the user to get him back on his feet. Considering this, TalkTalk offers the problem struck users a grace period of six months, during which the ISP would waive its monthly broadband and home fee of GBP 6.49.

Even then, the subscribers of TalkTalk broadband would be allowed to access a basic broadband service of around 512Kpbs speeds, to ensure that even while seeking a way out of the financial troubles, they stay connected to the ISP’s broadband. Moreover, all the customers who had been with TalkTalk for more than six months, would come under the Emergency Plan that also offers them inclusive weekend phone calls within the UK, and calls anytime to TalkTalk subscribers.

Dunstone added that they hoped their Emergency Plan would keep people connected, apart from giving them opportunity to learn fresh skills and applying for jobs. The telecoms watchdog of the UK, Ofcom has also welcomed this move from TalkTalk, saying that any steps taken to help reduce the communication cost during the recession period must be considered positive.

TalkTalk a broadband ISP that was launched in 2004, is one of the fastest growing UK ISP with a strong customer base of above 3 million. The ISP that is a part of the Carphone Warehouse offers broadband and voices services.
