With one of the popular internet service providers in the United Kingdom, UK Online ceasing to operating in the early part of the New Year, rival ISP Be Broadband is promoting itself as a strong alternative. UK Online is owned by BSkyB, one of the leading broadband TV bundle providers operating in the country.

With the deadline for the wind up fast approaching, Be Broadband recommends itself as a viable other option to UK Online. The internet service provider claims that similar idelas are shared by both the broadband providers.

Be Broadband put it on its official bog that UK Online was a highly respected provider that operated in the UK broadband community of the United Kingdom that prided itself on the effectiveness of its customer service.

Be Broadband that boasted of having an equally brilliant customer service went on to pledge a migration process that was less intricate for the customers that were planning to switch to the network of Be Broadband.

Meanwhile, Sky Broadband is also looking ahead to attract the existing customers of UK Online to its own network. Although it has launched an exclusive launch offer, it has also stated that its broadband deals were hardly suitable for business purpose.

According to reports TitanADSL, one of the internet service providers operating in the United Kingdom, is trying to better the quality of its broadband services. In the recent months the customers of the broadband provider were found having issues with slow broadband speed and other problems with their broadband service.

The broadband provider seems to have earnestly taken the issues, which is evident from their striking a new deal with the Vispa Internet, with a view to resolve any such issues within a month or so.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for TitanADSL said that by December and January all the Entanet customers would be transferred on to their own pipe , with the same pricing structures and products and their newly signed up customers would be subjected to fresh products and pricing structure that would be released soon.

Recently the broadband provider was found facing some technical problems with the phone system of their customer-support team.

It is also worth noting that some technical problems that had popped up earlier this month had forced the rival broadband provider UK Online to stop the signing up of fresh customers, even though for a short term. This problem was highlighted by the company to ComputerWorld UK through a statement.

UK online together with IoD (Institute of Directors) has published an online guide entitled “Your Business and the Internet”. The objective of the guide is to provide useful information that smaller businesses require about taking advantage of the available resources. By doing so they may be able to operate in a multitude of ways and make their presence felt in the Internet world. The broadband guide focuses on the many advantages of business broadband yet to be tapped by some businesses in UK.

In broadband comparison with their European counterparts, UK is lagging behind in terms of broadband usage. Statistics reveals that about 86 – 89% of businesses in France, Spain, Sweden and Finland are connected to broadband. In the UK it is only about 77% despite a prediction that by 2011 about 32 million UK consumers will shop online.

Chris Stening, MD – UK Online remarks that “Being online nowadays is fundamental as the Internet has placed almost unlimited information and choice in the hands of the consumer. Not having a website, even a basic site which describes your business and provides contact details, is a serious omission as the first thing most people do now is ‘Google’ for what they want – searching for websites to compare services and products before buying. Despite this, our own research shows that as many as two thirds of small businesses with less than ten employees still operate with no Internet connection.”

So, this guide is aimed at providing the technical know-how in a simplified, easy to comprehend format. It is argued by the IoD that such a specification is not easily available as most part of the internet throws light on consumer needs.

UK Online, a small business broadband provider (owned by BskyB), unveiled a new broadband service for SMEs with 1-10 employees. In the UK, there are estimated to be more than four million small businesses, one million of which are companies with less than ten employees, while the remaining three million are sole traders and home based businesses. According to Ofcom’s research, more than two-thirds of SMEs have broadband connections provided by various UK broadband providers. BT is the dominant player with more than 40 percent of market shares of broadband connections in the small businesses. With other providers having less than 10 percent of market share each, many small broadband providers like UK Online provide reliable, high-speed, cost-effective broadband services to the SME sector.

Chris Stening, Managing Director, UK Online said:

“Small businesses are currently choosing from either low priced consumer services or high priced business packages designed for the larger SME. They are desperate for a well supported but reasonably priced professional broadband packages from someone that understands their unique needs.”

The new business broadband service of UK Online will also offer 24/7 freephone technical support and free McAfee Internet Security.

According to the announcement made by UK online:

Existing UK Online consumer customers will continue to benefit from the same range of consumer products and services as before.

Businesses that are not covered by the UK Online LLU footprint, will be able to purchase the service for £29.99. As part of the BSkyB group, the LLU network covers more than 61% of the UK’s homes and small businesses.

There will be 448k upload speed via BT’s network

An activation fee of £25 will apply in all cases
