According to a survey conducted by the popular pro market website Moneysupermarket.com, Spotify, the free music download service, has brought down illegal downloading of music in the country, considerably. The online gadget-magazine T3 endorses that the online service that had won their award for innovation of the year, had worked akin to a nicotine patch to encourage the illegal online filesharers to kick the abominable habit.

The research carried out by th market oriented website noted that after using Spotify the number of illegal downloading instances have considerably gone down. The survey also found out that out of every three people, one under the age of twenty admitted that they were illegal downloaders, and the number of male culprits were higher than that of their female counterparts.

Spotify’s trailblazing music with business ads-with-music model has been embraced by almost all the main record labels that provided music in their service, in Europe. The research also observed that American companies could not only make money from Spotify free music, but also help them win their battle against piracy.
