Tiscali UK, one of the most popular broadband service providers functioning in the United Kingdom, has introduced a fresh broadband music download service of the DRM free kind in the country. For realizing this, the UK ISP has reportedly struck a deal with eMusic.

The fresh music download service has been dubbed as Music For Life. The subscription for this new broadband service for internet music will be availed to Tiscali UK portal customers for a price of GBP 9.99 per month. The advantage of this service, in the view of the customers is the offering of a remarkable 6.5 million MP3 songs for them to download.

The previously Italian owned broadband company, Tiscali, was recently acquired by the mobile phone giant of the United Kingdom, Carphone Warehouse that also owns another internet service providing company, TalkTalk. The latter is popular in the UK for its offering some of the cheapest business broadband packages.

Meanwhile, Tiscali UK has announced its offering the fresh customers fifty free songs on their signing up for a free trial for fourteen days, as a token for celebrating its Music For Life launch. Another merit of this service is that cancellation of the trial can be done at any point by the users, who will be still allowed to keep with them their downloads.

History says that Tiscali UK once enjoyed the status of one of the largest internet service provider in the United Kingdom, and the sales of its assets in the country had witnessed many dramatic twists. The company also had in its heydays bought a number of rival UK ISPs such as Pipex and Home Choice.

Carphone Warehouse revealed in a post purchase briefing that an addition of 1.45 million customers to the customer base of the company’s broadband division – TalkTalk Broadband, was the major gain for them. It now calculates its total broadband customer base to reach 4.25 million. The deal that is believed to be funded by the existing debt facilities of Carphone Warehouse is expected to conclude by June.

According to the chief executive of Carphone Warehouse, Charles Dunstone, the process had been an ordeal for the numerous Tiscali shareholders, for the banking world collapse at first compounded by the Pound’s decline in front of the Euro. The lucrative offer from TalkTalk interestingly comes at a point of time when Tiscali seems to have resolved not to take the blows in a submissive manner. This is more than apparent from their threat to a broadband price comparison website to take legal actions against them if they proceeded with their persuading the customers of the suffering ISP to switch to other ISPs’ services.

The renowned broadband price comparison site sailed clear off controversy by retracting its controversial comment on the issue with an apology. However, the broadband world is looking forward to know what would be the next move of Tiscali UK; would it retaliate strongly or would it simply exercise restraint.

Meanwhile, the TalkTalk camp is all poised to boost its myTalkTalk Essentials Phone and Broadband package that comes at a price of GBP 6.49 a month with inclusive download speeds of up to 8Mbps and a download limit of 40GB packed in a contract of eighteen months. Apart from these, the package also includes a wireless router for free of cost, free local daytime calls and unlimited calls to landlines in the UK in the evenings starting from 1^st of May, and free technical support through a TalkTalk line.

As per their promise to the switching Tiscali customers, the first bill of the customer would be credited with GBP50 considering it an amount equivalent to their broadband and phone call plan charge for three months and the connection fee. Nonetheless, all customers are expected to pay the regulation BT like line rental of GBP 11.25 here as well.
