It has been claimed by a recently carried out research that a good number of broadband consumers in the United Kingdom were spending a lot of time on social networking websites, with a view of boosting their business.

Over the past two years, a massive number of broadband internet consumers across the United Kingdom as well as the world have turned somewhat obsessed with these websites, which are in their turn used by people of different age groups for a wide range of reasons.

The social networking websites are being used by different people for reasons ranging from sharing details and images, to keeping in touch with family and friends and also for searching for fresh friends. On the other hand, the number of people present over these websites is the main reason for attracting the businesses to them.

According to the recent report, the trend of businesses turning to social networking websites is on the rise with a great number of them already taking advantage of the popularity of these sites. The relevant information has been released by the business broadband division of Virgin Media, Virgin Media Business.

The ongoing deployment of superfast broadband across the country has also been the right impetus for this trend. It is noteworthy here that besides the regulation superfast 40Mbps fibre optic broadband rollout by BT, Virgin Media is also contributing its part by ofering superfast broadband services of even up to 100Mbps speeds.

It is no more a secret these days that the current mobile broadband experience in the United Kingdom is more often than not, a tad painful. The increasing take up of advanced gadgets such as smartphones and mobile dongles has had its say in the form of data strain on the mobile networks of the country.

It is obvious that the myriad mobile devices in the hands of the Brits these days have resulted in slower data speeds and dropped sessions; particularly for one reason that GSM was designed for carrying voice and never data. According to a research carried out by a mobile broadband comparison website, the painful mobile broadband experience prevailing in the country has translated into a 57 per cent dip in the number of customers the site had helped to sign up in the last 12 months.

Nevertheless, the arrival of 4G broadband networks such as the Long Term Evolution technology and WiMAX could greatly change this poor consumer experience by allowing for considerably better mobile broadband. For example, 4G networks are already in place in the United States in the form of LTE and WiMAX – Clearwire and Sprint offering WiMAX-based services and others such as Verizon rolling out LTE-based ones. Some Scandinavian countries are also seen to be deploying LTE networks.

Whatsoever, the real impact of WiMAX and LTE is expected to be tangible with in five years’ time in the future, both in the United Kingdom as well as in Europe and elsewhere in the world. The main advantage of the 4G broadband network is that it allows consumers connect to the internet further out from the conventional work place, which in its turn would herald a greater mobile workforce.

On the flip side, 4G devices are believed to come with a relatively shorter shelf life tha conventional 3G devices. This means 4G devices would be left with less time for testing, customising, integrating and deploying as part of a unified setup of communications.

Sky Broadband is one of the popular broadband internet and home phone service providers operating in the United Kingdom. This ISP uses a telephone line for providing the service, and similar to many other DSL broadband providers serves only in certain areas of the United Kingdom.

It is worth noting that any customer of Sky Broadband in the United Kingdom that wish to engage a personal email address instead of a Sky Broadband email address, can well have it set up without much difficulty.

For setting up a personal email address on the broadband connection of Sky Broadband, the user needs to open up his internet browser and visit the website of the personal email provider. If the user does not have a personal email, he can get one at Google, Yahoo or Hotmail.

Now for creating an email account, the user will only require information such as his name and date of birth. After getting prepared for the go, the user can log into his email account.

The consumer can use his personal email account for saending as well as receiving email messages. This means the user need not use his Sky Broadband email account unless he opts to go with it.

A customer of Sky Broadband internet service can use the connection wirelessly by engaging a wireless router. It is noteworthy here that there is no extra cost associated with engaging a wireless router.

The customer can use laptops, game consoles, mobile phones or any other gadget, which uses a wireless broadband connection, once the connection is made. For keeping the network private, the user will have to place security measures in the router.

For connecting Sky Broadband service wirelessly the user needs to remove the Ethernet cable from the rear part of the computer and plug it directly into the slot labelled Internet on the wireless router. This helps the computer to have internet connection.

After this, the user needs to plug an Ethernet cable into the Port 1 at the backside of the wireless router. Here the opposite end of the Ehternet cable should be connected to the computer’s Ethernet port. The user can also connect any other devices to the wireless router alongside.

As the next step the user should unplug his broadband modem, unplug his wireless router and then restart his computer. Following this, he needs to reconnect the modem first and then reconnect the wireless router after waiting for a minute. Now the computer needs to be turned on once again.

Now the user should test his broadband connection. It should be noted that the computer of the user will, along with the other wireless devices, now be able to connect to the internet. The user should also consult his manual for security settings configuration information.

For using a Fax modem that allows the user to send documents to other fax machines one needs to follow some instructions.

Firstly, the user needs to read the instruction manual coming with the fax modem. Here will be designated the type of expansion slot to be used for placing the modem card inside the computer.

Secondly, the computer needs to be turned off and unplugged from the AC outlet. Now the user should remove its cover and install the fax modem by adhering to the maker’s instructions.

After this step, the computer needs to be placed inside its covers. Now the cable of the computer needs to be plugged back in the AC outlet. The user should also attach a phone line to a jack with ‘line’ mark on the fax modem, as one would generally hook any phone to the phone jack.

Now after booting the computer wait for the system’s fresh operating system to automatically find the fax modem and install the software required to run the device. If the OS does not find the software automatically th euser needs to use the CD and follow the instructions for installing the device.

Finally, the user can use the fax programme that accompanies the modem for sending or receiving the faxes. Generally, this is all about the programmes opening, specifying a phone number and commanding the software which file the user wished to fax.
