Under the fresh plans put forward by the telecommunications regulator of the United Kingdom, Ofcom, the customers of broadband internet services across the country could be provided with better services from the broadband providers.

The telecoms watchdog has unveiled a set of fresh proposals predominantly with a view to improving the customer support offered by the various internet service providers operating in the United Kingdom.

It has been reported that the regulating body has called for the setting up of basic minimum standards for the handling of complaints in the country’s broadband internet industry. Besides this, it was also looking to provide additional information to make sure that the users were well aware of existing services for dispute resolution.

The regulator has been additionally pondering over ways to boost the transparency displayed by the internet service providers in the United Kingdom, regarding the performance levels.

According to the chief executive officer of Ofcom, Ed Richards, the regulating body wanted to improve the handling ways of the complained and queries made by the consumers in the country.

Richards added that the advantage was that the consumers were entitled to expect their broadband suppliers to address and try the complaints made by them, and where these could not be resolved, they ought to be made aware of the rights due for them of am independent and free broadband service for dispute resolution.

An Ofcom research had only earlier this week reported that the broadband internet services in the United Kingdom were among the most economical in the world.

The MPs that have taken the initiative are; Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle, Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans and South Ribble MP David Borrow.

The MPs are reported to have tabled for a relevant scheme an early day motion. The scheme in its turn would involve the launching of WiFi access points across the county in a way inspire by the Swindon plans announced recently. The news was reported by Blackburn Citizen.

According to the fresh scheme, private and the business broadband internet users could both benefit from a free broadband internet service in the county.

Evans, the MP for Ribble Valley told the newspaper that he believed that people , in the 21st century needed a broadband internet connection in the same vein as they needed food and water. He added that the new scheme could also contribute into the eradication of broadband notspots, which could be found throughout Lancashire.

UK broadband provider Aquiss has come up with a range of premium broadband packages that provide the customers who sign up to these, a free broadband access for two months. The news has been announced by the company sources.

According to the internet service provider’s claims, the customers that sign up for either Aquiss Premier Option One or Option Two would be entitled to type in a promotional code at the time of registering that allows them access to the special broadband offer.

Meanwhile, a pro-broadband website has reported that the two broadband packages offered broadband internet data download speeds of up to 24 Mbps, besides a 250MB web space. However, these packages are exclusively designed for homes and small businesses.

The registration process that calls for the entering of the 2Monthsfree code, will be live up to 30 November, for the interested customers. It should also be noted that both these broadband packages come with anti-spam, anti-virus and webmail back up.

It is interesting that the details of the Aquiss broadband deal come immediately after O2 UK ISP had unveiled the launch of a fresh technical back up for its business clients.
