3, by introducing a fresh cheap broadband-laptop offer has definitely treaded ahead to revamp its mobile broadband contracts. The new offer that also includes a mobile broadband dongle extends the launch of fresh month long rolling contracts. A generous usage limit is also amongst the offers.

A monthly payment of GBP 22.50 over twenty four months will be the commitment awaiting the consumers signing up to the fresh broadband laptop deal of 3. By this deal, the consumers are provided with an Acer 6920G-583 laptop, mobile broadband usage of 15GB and a dongle.

The Acer laptop that is part of the deal is priced GBP510 in the general laptop market of the United Kingdom. It features an LCD of Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and 16 inch diagonal size. It is also a widescreen display. Other highlights of the laptop are; a 1.3MP built-in webcam, Bluetooth and 3GB RAM.

According to the calculations of 3, the usage allowance of 15GB is more than enough to engage in 15,000 emails, 480 x 4 minute music tracks, half hour video downloads x 10 and web surfing of 150 hours. Additionally, a free bundle of 75 text messages a month is also given by 3 as value added service.

Another significant aspect of the fresh introduction by 3 is its broadband UK product array of month long rolling contracts (30 day contracts). The contracts, priced at GBP 15 a month entitle the consumers to use 5GB as allowance, apart from being at liberty to terminate the deal at their wish.

Broadband switching in the UK has grown by 8.5 percent during the quarter between May and July 2008, according to the data released by Froggybank. The survey shows that broadband users have changed their providers to take advantage of cheap broadband deals and the new features that come with broadband packages and bundles. Froggybank conducted the survey using a sample of 500,000 UK broadband customers to find out these results.

According to the report, the number of broadband customers who go for broadband bundles that combine broadband internet service with home phone, satellite TV and mobile phone broadband services from their existing provider shows a growth of 7.5 percent during the quarter. As many internet providers also include bundled packages which are relatively cheaper than stand-alone broadband packages, broadband users are increasingly opting for broadband bundles, according to the report.

Nadeem Azam, Marketing Manger of Froggybank has commented:
“At froggybank.co.uk we are expecting to see this kind of switching continuing in the months to come. The big winners will be the firms that realise this and offer the best bundle and pay as you go deals.”

As the new migratory regulations issued by Ofcom, UK telecom regulator have made the switching process much easier, nearly one-third of the broadband customers switch their providers, according to a report. It should be noted that the internet providers should issue the MAC number within five working days while independent regulators like Ofcom, Otelo and ISPA help the customers who encounter problems during the switching process.

The UK broadband provider, the Carphone Warehouse (CPW) and JDSU, the California based network solution provider have signed a deal that will allow CPW to get support and technical assistance from the latter for the deployment of its future broadband networks and other advanced broadband services, according to a report.

Accordingly, JDSU will help the CPW technicians and staff with its solutions in many areas such as troubleshooting the problems & service layer faults of the network, improve the CPW LLU network and help the CPW’s technicians to diagnose the faults and to reduce the time for fixing the problems etc. In addition, the solution provider will also help to resolve the issues between the Carphone Warehouse and the largest UK BT broadband provider.

Tom Waechter, president of JDSU’s Communications Test & Measurement Division said:

“Our test solutions have a proven track record since 2003 in the UK and Europe, helping service providers resolve complex faults correctly the first time, lowering customer churn, improving quality of service and reducing mean-time-to-repair,” said.

Currently, the Carphone Warehouse is the third largest UK broadband provider and has more than 2.7 million home internet users. It seems JDSU will offer its test solution for deployment in 1600 exchanges of TalkTalk. It should be noted that CPW has over two thirds of its total broadband customers under its LLU coverage and has planned to increase it to eighty percent in March, 2009. As the broadband needs of home and business users are on faster pace, CPW has also planned to include its 40G core that will enable the ISP to offer better services and reliable connections to its customers.

The CPW broadband provider has over 2.7 million residential broadband customers, making it the third largest broadband supplier in the UK. The JDSU solution will be deployed at more than 1,600 exchanges for TalkTalk, CPW’s ISP operation, and will play a role in the CPWN UK-wide fault management process carried out at their new service management centre (SMC) at Irlam, Manchester.
