January 23, 2008Somerset sees robust growth in ADSL broadbandIn UK, the majority of broadband users get their connection via ADSL technology. Currently, there are over 14 million broadband users in UK and except 3.5 million customers of Virgin Media who get broadband via cable network, the rest of the UK broadband population are on BT lines or LLU networks to get ADSL broadband. The latest report from BT broadband provider shows that the county of Somerset has the largest broadband penetration level enabled by ADSL broadband providers. There, nearly half of the residents and business users (47 %) have subscribed to ADSL broadband service, while Cornwall which comes next in the order is reported to have 43 percent of its population having a broadband connection. In Oxfordshire, 45.3 percent of households are connected to a broadband service. Yeovil Express reports Sally Wilcox of BT as saying:“This is a fantastic achievement for Somerset.
