Some Landline-to-mobile Calls to be made Free by Virgin

Free Virgin Media Phone CallsVirgin Media, a broadband provider popular in the United Kingdom for its cable and fibre optic broadband services would be the first phone operator in the United Kingdom to allow its customers call free of charges from their fixed-line phones to certain mobile handsets. The provision will go live from April 1.

According to the new refreshing move from Virgin Media, all four million landline phone customers of the UK ISP would be entitled to call any mobile handset of Virgin for free. This reflects the free mobile-to-fixed line phone calls, which were included in the mobile tariffs of the company.

Virgin Media is one of those rare telecoms firms operating in the United Kingdom that offered its customers four branches of service such as broadband, landline phone, mobile and television. According to the broadband provider, out of its total landline customers ten percent subscribed to the quad-play service packages that included all four.

Graeme Oxby, the mobile chief of Virgin Media stated on Monday that at a time when the rival operators seemed to be keen on offering their customers less of their phone service, they were quite proud for being the leaders in that field, by coming first to offer home phone to mobile phone calls for free.

It is also worth mentioning here that the rival service providers such as TalkTalk and Sky were offering similar things and moreover, BT would also be allowed by Ofcom to bundle broadband, digital TV and phone services.
