SMC Barricade Wireless N Broadband Router
All in one network solution comes in the name of SMC Barricade Wireless N broadband router to connect and share 3G mobile broadband connections. This SMC WBR14-3GN router offers instant sharing and internet access to the areas where cable or DSL connections.
The router is built with an 802.11n WPA (wireless access point) which can support faster data transfer rate of about 300 Mbps. This is almost fifteen times greater than that of 802.11g. The router also has the backward compatibility of both 802.11 b and 802.11g. An in-built Ethernet WAN port and USB port are available with this router. As a result, it has an option of back up or fail over when one of the WAN interfaces got down.
The SMC WBR14-3GN router supports 3G high speed mobile broadband modem for both primary and secondary WAN (Wireless Area Network) connectivity and ensures “Always ON connection” with an option of auto fail over. This service cannot be provided by cable or DSL internet connectivity. A push button is there to switch the wireless signal ON or OFF if the user wants to stop the wireless connectivity for a while. This option is mainly to achieve hassle free web access in order to disable wireless transmission. This feature is otherwise called as Green Wireless connectivity.
More advanced security features are built with this best broadbandrouter. It supports WPA-2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access) encryption standard along with a push button or PIN configuration for WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). It has VPN pass through (Virtual Private Network) along with NAT (Network Address Translation) for enhanced security features of your network. To prevent the users from accessing unwanted sites, an option called URL blocking is available. In addition, MAC filtering is also available with the router. Two SSIDs (Service Set Identifier) are provided with this SMC WBR14-3GN router and hence it is said to have Dual SSID radio channel. One SSID is for regular wireless clients and the other SSID is given with a designated usage for ensuring the balanced internet usage and optimal performance of the network. It has a wireless client list and WDS facility.
The router has the following physical ports 10/100 Mbps WAN port, 4 port LAN switch (10/100 Mbps), USB 2.0 port along with three fixed 2dBi antennas. Protocols such as DHCP, L2TP and PPPoE are used for WAN connections which are found along with high speed USB modem. DHCP server for the assignment of LAN IP is also found with the device.
The router has a simplified design so that it is more amicable to the users. It has an external slide switch for the users to select either wireless access point mode or wireless router. Buttons such as WPS, 3G on/off, reset, WLAN on/off are found with the router. The dimension of the router is 185 x 150 x 25 mm and its weight is just 0.32 kg.
