Sky Q update to have Voice Control and Favourites menu added

Sky Q customers will be getting an upgrade and that includes a Voice Control facility and a bespoke Favourites menu in the TV guide. Voice Control will enable the viewers to use voice or verbal commands to the television. For instance, if a Sky Q viewer wishes to switch to another channel, he or she can simply say ” change channel to Atlantic”. Or if one has missed the beginning of a programme for a few minutes, one can simply say “watch from start”. Viewers can change their accessibility section, or turn on features like Audio Description using their voice on the Voice Control function.

The update builds on the existing Voice Search function that customers have started using since its launch earlier in this year. Also being revealed in this latest update is a bespoke Favourites menu, being featured on the TV guide . This add-on helps customers to prioritise their favourite channels by choosing up to 99 options and putting them into an order they prefer. The list can be easily edited, besides being easier for the user to select favourite channels quickly.

Sky says the latest update provides household customers increased control and personalisation more than ever before. Another update is available for the T2 box and customers will get access to, via the My Q, a dedicated Ultra HD section, that enables users to search UHD content easily and quickly, which includes blockbuster movies and 124 Premier League, games, plus original productions of Sky, like Riviera and Tin Star. Chief Marketing Officer at Sky, Luke Bradley-Jones, remarked that their customers who already love Voice Search will be going to love Voice Control in Sky Q even more.
