BT, the leading fixed-line and fibre optic broadband provider operating in the United Kingdom is planning to upgrade the broadband internet services in a number of telephone exchanges across the highlands of Scotland.
It is quite obvious from the announcement of the authorities that the broadband provider would be introducing improved broadband internet services across Scotland.
It has been reported that a deal has been hammered out between the government of the country and BT according to which telephone exchanges in several Scottish Highland locations will be subjected to upgrade.
The local news portal, Press and journal reported that telephone exhanges in Wester Ross, Kinlocheil, near Fort William and Applecross were among thos exchanges that would benefit from the upgrades.
Meanwhile, the enterprise minister of Scotland, Jim Mather said to the newspaper that the government wished to see as many of the population as possible to be brought under the group that benefited from broadband internet services.
Mather added that he was confident that a great number of people in those communities including homes, and businesses that needed a competitive edge in the global recession would greatly benefit from the fresh initiative.
