Pipex, one of the major groups of the British Telecom is now going to tie up the computer chip manufacturing giant Intel to launch one of the biggest wireless broadband services in the UK's 10 major cities, starting the work with London followed by Manchester.

All the trial runs made by Pipex into the new WiMAX service conducted in collaboration with Airspam Networks (one of the US based testing facility situated in Stratford) were successful with good positive results. And now Pipex is getting along Intel Capital to get more crispy chips for their broadband service. Pipex has agrees to transfer its 3.6 GHz wireless broadband spectrum license to Intel to ease the new service venture.

Intel is going to make a heavy investment of £14.4 Million into this new venture and is looking forward to the launch in the London City and City of Manchester altogether with Pipex. Both of them have projected this launch to extend to 50 more highly populated cities in the UK.

Both Intel and Pipex have appreciated this venture and have considered this as a fantastic opportunity to provide good service to those major cities. Pipex Chief Executive Peter Dubens went ahead and said with such an elaborative service, Pipex Wireless is going to offer good and unique broadband access to the consumer building up on Pipex existing DSL, hosting and network access services.

Pipex's WiMAX wireless connection have almost turned the service provider/operator into a hot cake which BT has high hopes in the near future. BT in bidding for this venture as well in order to build its WiMAX network in the United Kingdom to facilitate its mobile operations and is not having the license to perform it yet.
