O2 to launches free WiFi at Newark Market Place

Newark is famous for its Market Place and this historical market has been held since the 12th century. Now residents here and visitors to this historical rural town can access WiFi for free, offered by O2, an operator that has more than 9,000 hotspots across the UK. The O2 WiFi when once registered into, is free for anyone to use with a mobile device.

Andrew Muster, Chief executive of Newark and Sherwood District Council, observed that free Wifi would bring in more visitors into the district and boost the town centre trade, supporting retail promotions, information and tourism. To bring the town’s history to user’s devices, a Civil War trail app will help. Visitors walking through the historic place will be prompted with videos and histories of the sites here. O2 launched here on Friday, 28 March, the remote internet access service for mobile phones, tablets and laptops.
