Novices’ Laptop based on Linux
It is interesting to watch that a freshly conceived laptop particularly for ending the confusion and frustration of the people on operating a computer, has been based on Linux operating system.
The laptop designed for the computer novices called Alex comes with office software, image editing, internet browsing and simplified e-mail. It is also notable that customers signing up for Alex will also be provided with broadband internet access, software updates and telephone support.
Alex Laptop that comes with a price tag of GBP 39.95 per month as a broadband laptop bundle package predominantly target the twelve million people of the United Kingdom that are not users of a computer.
One can also find a subtle message passed on by the developers of the laptop that the ideal operating system for a novice should be Linux. The expectation of the creators of Alex that the device along with its simple software suite could emerge a popular alternative to the Mac and Windows OSs is also quite apparent here.
Barney Morrison Lyons, the technology head at The Broadband Computer Company, the brain and muscle behind Alex Laptop said that the device was not designed to be a super computer and they were not buying into the present PC market as well.
Alex subscribers will also be provided with a USB stick that contains user-encrypted information using which they can log on to their desktop from any Alex PC. 10GB of storage memory and anti virus software are also offered to the subscribers for their monthly fee.
