Next Generation Welsh Broadband Project Proves a Hit

Welsh Broadband ProjectIt is widely known that a broadband project of next generation character was launched in North Wales last year. The project launched using the super fast fibre optic broadband technology has been reported a reasonable successby a popular newspaper circulating in the United Kingdom.

According to the news portal, th e Daily Post, the Welsh next generation broadband project dubbed the FibreSpeed project linked the business parks located in north Wales with similar structures in Manchester, which was almost at a distance of two hundred miles from the former. It was also revealed that around thousand consumers were using the new resource, in the region.

The vital GBP 30 million funding required to set up the project initially was raised by both private and public sources. The money sources were the Assembly Government of Wales, European Regional Development Funds and Geo Networks.

According to Leuan Wyn Jones, the deputy first minister, this was a significant advance for Wales that equipped the business firms with a robust competitive advantage in tackling the global recession as well as the economic upturn that is believed to be following.

Meanwhile, the Westminster has also pledged to rollout a universal broadband internet service of a minimum of 2Mbps access speeds to every household in the United Kingdom by 2012.
