Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem has been integrated with DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0 standards. Motorola has
introduced this new cable modem by integrating the latest A-TDMA and S-CDMA technologies. This technology has the capacity to provide up stream data rate up to 30 MBPS. The term "Upstream Data Rate" is used to indicate the speed of uploading. This modem has the ability to upload up to 30 mega bytes just in one second. Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem uses USB PC interface. USB denotes the type of connectivity. This modem uses the connectivity of Ethernet for which it uses Ethernet cables to connect your system. It has a front panel with LED indicator. It is also featured with built-in HTML based diagnostics system. This system is used to diagnose the troubles with in less period of time. The Surfboard cable modem uses TCP and IP type of protocols and it operates with the temperature ranging from 0 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius. It has the compact dimensions of 2.3 inches width, 6.2 inches height and 6 inches in depth. This cable can easily connect with all the system functioning by using Operating Systems like Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me, NT, XP, Mac OS, Linux, and UNIX. It is an external type of modem which can easily be detached from your computer when it is not in use. The device is a platform independent one that works perfectly fine no matter what the platform is. It also uses HTML based user interface to get connectivity. This connectivity is used for status trouble shooting. This single modem permits your system to support with up to 32 users on Ethernet. For which it uses 31 Ethernet via USB PC interface. The maximum down stream rate of this modem is up to 38 MB per second and the maximum upstream rate is up to 30 MB per second. The down stream frequency range of the modem is 88 to 860 Mhz.
