Martha Lane Fox will Call ‘Digital Heroes’ for TalkTalk
Reports say that the newly appointed Digital Inclusion Champion of the UK, Martha Lane Fox will be the person who would be leading the call for the digital heroes of Britain, which is part of a scheme that has been designed by TalkTalk, the internet service provider of Britain. TalkTalk is the subsidiary of mobile phone giant Carphone Warehouse, as well as its broadband wing.
Fox, the digital champion of Britain will seek for twelve individuals from across the country who have, using the technology such as broadband, brought about a positive change in the society. According to the TalkTalk digital hero scheme, each winner will receive an amount of GBP 5,000 to be used in their projects. Besides, they will also be availed a free broadband package of 18 month term, from the ISP.
Above all, an overall winner will be selected by the jury to be awarded with the grand prize of GBP 10,000. The significance given to this scheme can be understood from the opinion of the digital champion that it was these heroes who have strived to improve the accebility of digital technology, as well as provided the actual picture of its relevance and fun to the people in the local communities.
Fox also said that it was for that reason TalkTalk was introducing the digital hero accolades. She concluded saying that the TalkTalk awards for the digital heroes would aim to reward and celebrate the achievements of these heroes, and she herself was delighted to offer her support wholemindedly to the initiative.
TalkTalk UK ISP is arguably the largest internet service provider in the country with a colossal customer-base of more than 4.25 million via its different subsidiaries including Tiscali UK that was acquired by them a couple of weeks back. As a matter of fact, the ISP had only earlier this week disclosed that it had attracted 47,000 fresh customers in the second quarter of the year.
