March 16, 2007JAHT Wireless 54Mbps 4-port ADSL Modem/Router
The WAM-4054P has various features like the four Ethernet ports that are aside from the wireless interface that allow you to run any amounts of different wireless or Ethernet networks. Your router should be able to work on all different BT Wholesale based ADSL services (like Karoo which is available in the United Kingdom). This device is based by a Conexant chipset that showed us to be a very well known chipset for many routers within the previous couple of years and has worked terrifically. The most recognized part of usage for this device would be the single IP address service. The setup is the same for dynamic and static IP address solutions. It probably is easy to use the router to block the static IP addresses although it is not confirmed by us. JAHT is also making their own version of the 802.11g wireless network card that is easy to be compared along side with a wide variety of different top brands on the market. What you will receive for what you give away Upon the purchase of this device, you will receive the router itself, as beautiful as it may seem a RJ45 Ethernet patch cable, a RJ11 lead for plugging in the router to a micro-filter, a 9V/1.5A DC power outlet, a HTML text-based manual that is put on a floppy disk, and a short Quick Start Guide. The case that this device comes in is made of plastic with various air vents across the top face of it. This will prevent the router from overheating and stopping it from causing any potential breakdowns for long term usage. On the actual face of the device, you will find a total of eight different LED lights and a push-able on/off switch button. The eight lights are very informative. The LAN TP4 -TP1 light is to indicate that there is action for each of the Ethernet ports, the WAN RXD light flashes if any data comes in from the internet, the WAN ADSL light stays red if it receives an ASDL signal, the WAN TXD light notifies you of any action you submit to the internet, the RDY light will flash as soon as you log onto your internet service provider, and the power switch will indicate whether the power is turned on or off. In the back of the router, it is pretty basic. There are two wireless antennas which are hardwired (which mean that you can not add or take off any antennas but if you have two antennas, you can orient them to get the best possible coverage). There is a small thing with the design of the case at the bottom edge of the routers case which will make the possibility of taking out any Ethernet cables even harder as it is difficult to push down on very small tabs on every cable to be able to unlock them from the Ethernet port. If you open the case of the router, you will notice the Conexant ARM processor which runs the device, as well as a small wireless network card that is a different Conexant based device. You can buy Conexant based ADSL kits in the United Kingdom, which have been on the market for a while. Although these devices will not be noticed for their designs, they are great at performance. Performance Even though the routers web interface appears to be rather strict, the device seems to be fairly stable as it can run for weeks on end without facing any issues. The device also seems to run rather well with heavy traffic loads, even on a small 2Mbps connection whether it is with single downloads or bulk downloads. ConclusionThe JAHT WAM-5404P router is not one to get overwhelmed about. It is just another average router. The device does as it should and is very reliable. The price tag of this router is currently sitting at £69.99 and seems to be not the best router for the price of it. While the price is more expensive then other routers (say the Linksys HG200), it does include delivery. It is believed that the router will likely be attractive to many people, especially with the Conexant chipset basing. While this unit is great for performance and is a little expensive it will vary from customer to customer rather they choose to use the JAHT WAM-5404P router or not. | ||

The WAM-4054P definitely has a great name for its JAHT router and matches an ADSL modem and wireless router in an individual case. The wireless part of the router runs at the speed of 54Mbps (802.11g) which is the standard speed and is capable to run with the 802.11b hardware.
