Increasing Broadband Speeds and Demand Take Online Marketing to Heights

The UK will be witnessing an increase in the number of households subscribing for broadband UK from various service providers in 2009. According to a research conducted by digital marketing research firm, eMarketer, a 6.25% increase will be seen on the current figures, which is 16.1 million consumers. Thus, about 17 million homes will have access to high speed broadband this year. The main catalyst behind this increasing broadband demand is the high rates of data transfer offered by various providers, thanks to the advancement in technology.

online marketingAccording to Karin von Abrams, eMarketer senior analyst, broadband is increasingly vital for the people of the UK, as they make the most of what the web has to offer. Online marketers are also ‘making hay when the sun is shining bright’. Taking complete advantage of this high broadband demand, these online marketers and retailers are coming out with new strategies to advertise their products and attract customers. Apart from product images, the broadband offers many more features like zooming, 360 degrees rotation of product, virtual simulation and working of product and more. These features give a more realistic look and feel of the product, helping customers arrive at the right choice when they shop online.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) set up a taskforce to address some of the problems that Internet marketing is facing currently. Two of the most important issues are data ownership and media contracts of interactive ads between retailers and customers. The taskforce consists of people from Google, CNN and other leading brands. They intend to come up with a plan which would be beneficial to publishers, agencies and marketers and would promote the relationship among them.
