Increase in broadband subscribers
According to a recently done survey, it has been found out that the number of broadband subscribers has significantly increased in the UK. It was found out that by the end of March 2007, the number of British broadband subscribers reached almost 14 million. This shows the popularity of broadband use in the place.
The study also revealed that the use of broadband all over the world also has increased. A study conducted by Point Topic’s Global Broadband Statistics service brought out the fact that the number of people using broadband in the UK has risen to 13,953,000. The study also analysed that the same all over the world is now almost 298 million. The research director at Point Topic, Katja Mueller mentioned that it is better to assume that the number of broadband subscribers all over the over must have crossed 300 million. He made this note considering the wide popularity and the growth rates of broadband usage.
There was a very steady and strong growth of broadband users in Eastern Europe. More than 10% of the people opted for broadband internet connection recently. During the first quarter of the year 2007, Greece expanded by 26.8%. France was distinguished to be the major mover within the top ten countries, organised in rank by the quantity of subscribers. The Guardian also declares that the demand for broadband in the UK has been determined by competition among Sky Broadband Provider and free offers from firms such as TalkTalk.
