In-car Broadband enhanced by Ford
The prominent car manufacturer, Ford has announced a fresh version of its SYNC in-car communications and entertainment system, which would engage the mobile broadband technology to gain access to internet. Besides the system will use wireless broadband (WiFi) to convert the automobile into a WiFi hotspot on wheels.
The freshly unveiled system that is expected to be launched in the United States of America next year, is hoped to culminate into a major hit with the consumers who are cost conscious. This system developed by Ford, unlike other in-car broadband internettypes, is capable of allowing the customers to plug in the existing mobile broadband dongles of theirs to gain connectivity, which says that a separate subscription or additional equipment was not required.
Ford America’s president, Mark Fields said that while the customer was driving to the house of his grand mother, his spouse could be finishing the holiday shopping and the children could chat with their mates. He added that the customer was not paying for a different piece of hardware or mobile subscription, since Ford would let the person use the technology already served to him.
On the other side, although there was seldom any word given on whether the innovation would be coming to the United Kingdom, it was worth noting that Ford was the favourite car manufacturer in the country. As a matter of fact, Ford Focus was voted the decade’s most popular car in the United Kingdom by a recently held survey by the magazine Auto Trader.
It is also worth mentioning here that besides that Ford Mondeo and Ford Fiesta also managed to win positions in the top five popular cars in the UK.
