How to Check Your Current Internet Speed

While majority of the cable broadband or DSL internet providers list a standard download and upload speed for their broadband service, one might have noticed that the speeds seemed to differ from their stated maximum speeds.

If someone needs to check the speed at which his computer uploaded as well as downloaded data from his internet connection, a speed test website’s service can be taken advantage of. A speed check website sends test data packets from and to the user’s computer to calculate how long it took for them to reach their destination.

Checking the user’s internet connection speeds on his computer through one of those usually free online speed test websites is quite simple.

Firstly the user needs to access the speed check website that is a service, which is capable of checking the user’s internet connection’s download and upload speeds. Here he needs to scroll down through the available server location list to pick one of the server locations and click on it for initiating the download of a test packet at that location from the web page.

Now the user needs to wait for the test data packet to be downloaded to his computer system. Once the download speed test finishes sending of a test data packet to the web page located at the chosen server, from the user’s computer he needs to click on the button Upload speed.

On clicking the Done button the test is finished and the results of the user’s internet connection’s download and upload speeds can viewed.
