How to Change a Wired Broadband Computer to a Wireless Broadband

For changing from a wired broadband computer to a wireless broadband computer the user would need to invest in two pieces of fresh equipment depending on the existing configuration.

If the user currently owns a wireless broadband router with an inserted cable modem through the WAN port, he will require to determine whether to buy an external or internal wireless adapter.

Laptop owners shall go for an external card, while desktop owners can buy either an external or internal card. The instructions for changing a wired broadband computer to wireless system is given below. The things required for this are; a broadband modem, a router that can go with the modem, an external or internal wireless broadband network adaptor, and a screwdriver.

Step 1: A wireless broadband router needs to be purchased and installed by interfacing it with the user’s wired computer. A router, which is compatible with the broadband modem besides supporting the desired type of wireless network should be chosen.

Step 2: WP or WPA 2 security should be enabled beside changing the default password of the user’s router. A memorable name should be given to the wireless network or SSID.

Step 4: The metal part of the anti-static wrist bracelet needs to be clipped to a metal object and strapped on the bracelet.

Step 5: The adaptor’s pins should be lined up with the slot. The card needs to be inserted until it clicks into the slot.

Step 6: All cables need to be re-inserted and the have the computer booted.

Step 1: The task bar’s network icon needs to be double clicked.

Step 2: The wireless network should be highlighted. The entered name, while installing the router will be displayed by Windows.

Step 3: The connect button should be clicked

Step 4: The security key created by the user should be typed in and verified while setting up the router. No Connect can be clicked.
