How to Administer a Speed Test for DSL & Broadband
Online speed test tools that check the internet access speeds delivered by the internet connections analyse the speed of downloading massive files. By carrying out speed tests, one can compare the internet access speed differences between cable and DSL internet connections.
Broadband internet speed checks carried out regularly would indicate service degradation if present, by measuring the download speed rate explicitly. To administer a speed check for DSL and cable broadband connections one needs to follow certain instructions. They are given below.
Step 1: The customer is required to access one of the many free speed test websites available on the internet, preferably one with geographically diverse server locations.
Step 2: A java or flash based applet for carrying out the broadband connection speed check has to be selected. Most PCs are capable of running both of these speed test versions.
Step 3: A server location should be selected, closest to the consumer’s area.
Step 4: The Get Data button should be selected on the speed check page to start the broadband connections speed check.
Step 5: Now the results of the broadband internet connection speed check can be viewed on the applet dashboard on the web page.
Step 6: Now the differences between the cable broadband and DSL connections’ download speeds for the user’s geographic area can be compared to determine which service is ideal for a business or home broadband connection.
