How to Add a WWAN to Your Laptop?
Wireless Wide Area Network, better known as WWAN is a wireless broadband internet connection, which uses the mobile phone technology to provide the consumer with internet access.
Certain laptops and notebooks are available in the market with integrated WWAN capabilities. If the user’s laptop does not come with WWAN compatibility, it can be added using a mobile broadband USB dongle offered by one of the many phone carriers.
For adding WWAN to the user’s laptop, a few instructions need to be followed by the him.
Step 1: The user needs to check if mobile broadband USB modems are offered with his mobile phone or mobile broadband provider. If the user does not have a provider, he can get such USB modems at certain networks.
Step 2: Now a mobile broadband USB modem should be ordered with a mobile phone provider. For better results a provider with a larger 3G broadband network should be chosen. This provides the users to get the optimal high speed data service for their laptop. A data plan should also be selected for the user’s modem.
Step 3: Now the mobile broadband USB modem should be inserted into one of the laptop’s USB ports. Generally, the user does not have to set up any software. The first time a mobile broadband USB modem is inserted a set up screen will be obtained where the user is required to type in his phone number pertaining to the modem.
The significance with WWAN internet access is that the user can get it via his mobile broadband USB dongle, anywhere a mobile phone service is available.
