Google aims at Mobile Internet Market

Google CorporationA good part of the UK broadband internet sector of the United Kingdom believes that Google, the search engine giant is looking to consolidate its status in the mobile internet market.

The giant search firm is well known for its trait of swallowing up the interesting start ups deemed by it, aiming at increasing its portfolio that is already remarkable. This time it is not just something surrounding the search context, but also a bold trial in a number of other markets. As a matter of fact, the acquisitions by the firm includes fifty nine companies that range from mobile software to video and VoIP since the year 2001.

The corporation based in Mountain-View California has announced recently its intention to acquire an advertisement company; AdMob launched four years back. AdMob sells advertisements that run on mobile phones, and hence the move of the search giant to acquire it has raised a few eye-brows – at least of FTC, the US regulator – to be asked for vital information regarding the process.

It is also worth mentioning here that before this acquisition, it took four months for FTC to approve Google’s acquisition of another advertising firm – this time internet based – ‘DoubleClick’.

It is almost certain that currently Google has set its sights on a local business review website, ‘Yelp’. Yelp’s local services logically integrate with the rising amounts of mobile phone-based location awareness application. Since, Google is not quite strong in the area of mobile phone-based local advertising and local recommendations, Yelp can be the right platform for it to have a tremendous foothold in the sector.
