Fast Broadband Services Give the UK Businesses Room to Improvise

wahm-kitchenWorking from home seems to be the slogan for the future as more employers as well as employees seem to have embraced the concept with zest, actively complimented by the enhancement taken place in the broadband service speeds in the United Kingdom. Whatsoever, only about half of the total working population working from home expressed content of being provided with a laptop or phone or broadband.

A research conducted by the Orange telecommunications group says that most of the UK companies offer their employers a home based working facility, enabled by the enhanced broadband technology. Apart from this, most of the organizations have allotted a high speed internet connection to their staff members for this purpose as well, according to the survey.

The Vice President for Business at Orange UK, Paul Tollet says that about half of the working population in the UK has been enjoying the advantage of this flexible working. However, about 35 per cent of the employers considered this to be surprising even though they were well acknowledged about its benefits.

Another survey carried out in the same context found out that there was a digital divide among the male and the female employees, as more men were likely to embrace this turn out, unlike their women counterparts. The major sectors where the employees were keen to follow the new concept is possibly IT sector, closely followed by media, health services, law and mobile.

Meanwhile, the subscriptions for dongle-based mobile broadband packages has also been increased by a considerable extent since last year. This news was published in Orange’s latest Digital Media Index. The study was undertaken by YouGov on behalf of the leading UK ISP Orange.
