EE to set-up ASDA’s own 3G and WiFi services in-store

ASDA, one of the largest supermarket chains of UK, has partnered up with EE for a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) deal, for providing its own 2G and 3G mobile voice, text and broadband services. This move follows its earlier deal that Asda made with EE to set-up free wireless internet or WiFi service in all its high street stores, i.e. across its 568 outlets in UK.

Asda’s Retail Director, Mark Ibbotson, felt that this partnership was the next logical step forward. They at Asda, were driven to improve the experience of Asda Mobile customers taking advantage of EE’s bigger and faster network. EE’s Chief Non-Consumer Marketing Officer, Gerry McQuade, said that this partnership is an example of EE’s integrated solution to businesses striving to keep customers connected. The new deal will take effect by the end of October this year.
